    it's a teardrop-shaped lump under the skin, slightly less than an inch long, just below and to the right of my chin.

  actually, that's not surprising. any time there's anything that might require surgical intervention, on the face, neck or shoulders, standard practice is to offer the referral to a plastic surgeon. anything they can't get rid of with topical creams or one or two stitches, max, goes to surgeons, too.
